Priorities

Prairie Village isn’t just a great place to live — it’s a community that works. I’m committed to preserving what makes it special, not just for today, but for future generations.

That means focusing on what matters most:
✔️ Keeping our neighborhoods safe
✔️ Being a good steward of tax payer dollars
✔️ Maintaining the infrastructure we rely on every day
✔️ Planning ahead and investing wisely
✔️ Supporting the local businesses that keep our community strong

Together, we’ll keep Prairie Village thriving — now and for the next generations.

Public Safety

Public safety must be our top priority. It is the foundation of everything that makes Prairie Village special — great neighborhoods, strong community, and an exceptional quality of life. When we feel safe, we walk our kids to school, shop local, enjoy our parks, gather with neighbors, and invest in our homes.

That’s why I’m committed to supporting and fully funding our police department to ensure they have the tools, training, and facilities they need to do their job well - and make sure they continue to serve with professionalism, accountability and strong community connection.

Fiscal Responsibility

Only about 16% of the property taxes we pay go to Prairie Village. While that may seem like a small slice of the overall tax bill, I believe we have a big responsibility to use those dollars wisely.

Being a good steward of our hard-earned tax dollars means setting smart priorities, eliminating waste, and planning ahead.

We can’t afford to kick the can down the road and let small problems become big, expensive ones. I’m committed to making thoughtful decisions that not only meet today’s needs, but also protect and preserve Prairie Village for the next generation.

Fiscal responsibility isn’t just about the bottom line — it’s about leadership, trust, and doing what’s right for our community now and in the years ahead.

Maintaining Infrastructure

Great public works are what make everyday life in Prairie Village feel seamless — smooth streets without potholes, clean and well-kept parks, stormwater systems that prevent flooding, and snow removal that keeps our city moving. It’s our walkable sidewalks, bike lanes, pool, and tennis and pickleball courts that bring neighbors together and make our community more vibrant and livable.

These things may go unnoticed when they’re working well, but they don’t happen by accident. They’re the result of thoughtful planning, consistent maintenance and investment, and a city that values its infrastructure — and the dedicated people who care for it. That’s what good local government looks like, and it’s worth protecting and preserving.

Smart Investment

Smart investment in sustainable infrastructure can sometimes be the most effective way to protect public funds and prepare Prairie Village for the future. We all know that kicking the can down the road almost always leads to higher costs and missed opportunities. I don’t believe in spending just to spend — but I do believe in planning ahead, acting when it matters, and investing wisely in Prairie Village’s future. By making thoughtful, future-focused decisions now, we’ll keep our community strong, resilient, and ready for the next generation.

Support Local Business

Shopping local and attracting new businesses makes a big difference. Nearly a quarter of our city’s revenue comes from sales tax — money that helps fund essential services like public safety, street maintenance, parks, and more.

Every dollar spent at a local business keeps sales tax dollars working right here at home, helping reduce our reliance on property taxes. That matters now more than ever. Rising property values — while great for homeowner equity — also lead to higher tax bills and increased rents.

When we shop local, we’re not just supporting our favorite neighborhood stores — we’re investing directly in Prairie Village and our future.
